Tweet To See Team USA Contest
If you want to win a chance to see Team USA at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, now is your chance. Vicks' has launched the Tweet 2 See Team USA contest where the winner will go on a 4 day, 3 night trip for two to Vancouver to cheer on Team USA in their favorite Winter Olympic Sports. You could always win the lottery and go to the Olympics on a private jet, but it's both free to enter this contest and you're more likely to win!
Here are some great sports to attend to see American medal hopefuls.
In the bobsled competitions, the Americans have a chance to win medals in the two- and four-man and woman bobsleigh teams. Erin Pac and Elana Meyers in the two-woman bobsled event are outside hopefuls for a medal, and the four-man sled of Steve Holcomb, Steve Mesler, Curtis Tomasevicz and Justin Olsen are among the favorites for the gold. There are also individual hopefuls for the Skeleton or Luge events for the men and women athletes. Head down to the downhill track and cheer them on!
Skiing & Snowboarding
America is one of the most dominant countries in snowboarding events, whether it's in racing or halfpipes or jumps. Shaun White is a legend in the half pipe, having won numerous X-Games titles as well as a gold medal in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. In the downhill Snowcross races, Seth Wescott is also a defending Winter Olympic gold medalist and is a favorite to win. On the women's side, keep an eye out for Hannah Teter and Kelly Clark in the half pipe.
For Skiing, Lindsey Vonn is coming off of two gold medals in the 2009 World Championships in both the Super-G and Downhill alpine skiing events. She will be a favorite to win gold in Vancouver. In the men's combined alpine skiing, Bode Miller is a medal hopeful as well. There are also slalom, moguls, and other freestyle jump events that are exciting to watch! Make sure you dress warm and have lots of hot chocolate.
Both the men's and women's ice hockey teams are among the favorites to win medals in Vancouver in 2010. The women's team dominate the world in women's ice hockey, led by stars such as Hillary Knight and the Lamoureux sisters-Jocelyn and Monique. They will be looking to defeat the other powerhouse, Team Canada's women's team who defeated them in 2002 in Salt Lake. The American women team will be looking to avenge their Olympic loss in their home country.
The men's hockey team might not be strong favorites like the women's side, but they will have a strong team led by goalie Ryan Miller, as well as young stars such as Phil Kessel, Patrick Kane, and Joe Pavelski. They will have to fight their way through the Russians, Swedes, and Canadians to reach the podium but it would be considered much of an upset were they to win gold.
